I think the lore of The Witcher series is more interesting than Dragon Age's.

And the audio overall is just better, IMO. So in order to help people decide which game deserves their precious time, here's a comparison of their strengths. I found a majority of Dragon Age's soundtrack to be forgettable. Functioning members of society probably have too many real-life commitments to play both RPGs. Both also consume a huge amount of time in a player's lifespan. DA:O was ok but it's near the bottom of the top 10 RPG list for PS3, whereas Witcher 3 is still, IMO, number 1 for PS4. Meanwhile, Dragon Age has been enjoying a relatively high spot in the story-driven RPG section that its progenitor, Baldur's Gate games, popularized. Witcher 3 is the best RPG of this generation, it has a way better story, characters and plot than any Dragon Age game, even Origins, which was the best of the 3 DA games. The third game in The Witcher series is an easy recommendation for anyone who wishes to get into excellent story-driven high fantasy narratives.While the game is a continuation of the series, its still definitely not required to play the previous games before experiencing this masterpiece due to how beginner-friendly and self-contained it really is. Skyrim is still the current crown-holder of open-world sandbox RPGs. Witcher 3 is a great open world RPG (maybe even the best ever open world RPG), but lacks behind traditional RPGs overall. But both are heavyweight RPGs that represent their sub-genre well in a definitive way. They're not exactly alike or comparable in terms of core gameplay and idea.
